The State Bank of Vietnam said it does not use exchange rates to gain an unfair trade advantage, responding to the US Treasury keeping Vietnam on its currency-monitoring list. The bank said it will set monetary policy to control inflation and support growth.
Its statement was issued after the Treasury's semi-annual report to Congress.
The statement reduces the risk of deliberate currency weakening to boost exports, so it has little direct effect on feed commodity prices.
