Mexico's environment ministry banned the import of 1,000 tons of US glyphosate in November 2019 as an emergency measure. The minister said the next step would be to ban glyphosate and more than 100 other dangerous pesticides.
The move followed a study linking herbicide exposure to health problems in a Jalisco farming region.
A broader glyphosate ban in Mexico would affect crop protection inputs and possibly GM crop production. The direct effect on feed commodity prices is limited for now.
