CJ BIO announced it will produce feed-grade L-arginine at its Fort Dodge, Iowa plant starting early in Q2 2020. The plant already makes threonine and lysine, and the company will temporarily shift lysine output to arginine.
CJ says it expects to supply North and South America from the site.
Adding a new domestic arginine source expands amino acid supply in the Americas and could ease pricing for feed formulators. The temporary shift away from lysine production trims near-term lysine output, though CJ says it has built enough inventory to cover demand.
