Platts reported that Texas ethanol crush margins turned positive for the second time in 2020, at 6 cents per gallon. Ethanol prices rose faster than corn futures, even as EIA data showed production down about 48,000 barrels per day and stocks up 884,000 barrels.
Improved crush margins support ethanol plant operating rates and corn grind, which supports corn demand. Rising ethanol stocks limit how far that improvement can go.
