Ukrainian companies Effective Investments and Mada Participations BV have started building Feednova, a $20 million plant in Lviv Oblast to process food and livestock waste. The plant will make meat-and-bone meal, bone meal and fat using dry rendering, with completion slated for the end of 2020 and first products in 2021.
Partners are also considering two similar plants elsewhere in Ukraine.
The plant adds future rendered protein supply in Eastern Europe, but output will not reach the market until 2021, so near-term price impact is minimal and mildly bearish for meat-and-bone meal.
