The ICE Canola Board Margin Index closed March 26, 2020, with the May 2020 contract at C$91.64 per tonne, down from C$98.61 a day earlier. The index is a formula-based measure of canola crush returns that uses soybean oil and meal futures, the canola futures price and the exchange rate.
Crush margins signal processor appetite for canola seed and the value of the meal and oil they yield, so a lower margin points to softer demand for canola and canola meal.
