CBH Group shipped its first cargo of ISCC-certified sustainable malting barley, about 27,300 tonnes, from Albany in Western Australia to Interflour's malting plant in Vietnam. The pilot program is meant to meet growing international demand for sustainably sourced grain.
CBH previously ran the ISCC scheme for canola sold into the EU biofuel market.
This is a small niche shipment of malting barley with a sustainability premium and is unlikely to move broad feed or malt barley prices.
