Sudan's Ministry of Industry and Trade ordered a halt to sorghum exports from April 15 until further notice. Exporters that had started export procedures or applied for permits before that date may continue.
The decision follows poor sorghum yields last season and COVID-19 measures that include border closures.
Sudan's export halt removes a small volume of sorghum from world trade and adds to the tight export supply already seen with Australia's poor crop, supporting prices for other origins.
