Bangladesh's agriculture minister announced a government-set cut in the price of DAP for farmers, from Tk 25 to Tk 16 per kg, and for traders, from Tk 23 to Tk 14. The administered price had been fixed at Tk 25 since 2014.
The government aims to improve farm profitability and reduce excessive urea use.
The administrative price cut lowers domestic DAP costs in Bangladesh and may raise fertilizer demand. Its effect on global prices is small.
After 50 past bearish policy events, DAP moved a median +0.9% over 5 sessions (62% higher; middle half -0.1% to +1.6%), and +0.9% over 20.
