A study reported by National Hog Farmer found that adjusting DL-Methionine levels in hog diets significantly reduced feed intake and produced little to no weight gain when pigs were weighed at six days. The result builds on a 1987 swine research project on amino acid imbalance.
Feed formulation changes that slow intake could modestly reduce feed demand and methionine use in hog rations, though the effect on prices is small at this stage.
