A Corps of Engineers towboat, the M/V Sanderford, sank in the Mississippi River near the U.S. 190 Bridge after capsizing while assisting a dredge that struck a bridge pier on April 21. Three crew members were pulled from the water with no serious injuries, and salvage is pending.
The sunken vessel is a localized navigation obstruction that could cause short delays for barges in the Mississippi, but no broad disruption to grain flows has been reported.
