The EIA reported the US national average diesel price rose 0.5 cents to $2.430 per gallon for the week, its fifth increase in six weeks. The price remains well below $3 and about 61 cents lower than a year earlier.
WTI was trading near $40.69 per barrel.
Small weekly gains reflect slowly recovering freight demand, but diesel is still far below last year, which keeps fuel and freight costs for feed deliveries low.
