NCDEX launched Agridex on 25 May, India's first agricultural futures index, comprising 10 liquid commodities including soybean, chana, cottonseed oilcake, guar, mustard seed and refined soy oil. Contracts expire in June, July, September and December, and the index is rebalanced annually with commodity capping.
The index gives Indian market participants a new hedging tool for oilseed and meal exposure, which may add financial liquidity to these feed-relevant commodities but is unlikely to move physical prices on its own.
