LMIC reports dried distillers grains (DDG) averaged $136 per ton across 10 tracked markets last week, near year-ago levels even though corn is well below 2019 prices. Ethanol plant shutdowns during COVID-19 cut DDG supply and pushed its premium over other feedstuffs above normal.
Tight DDG supply keeps feed buyers paying a premium over corn and soymeal, though rations are slowly shifting away from DDG. Prices should normalize only as ethanol output recovers, so DDG stays firm relative to alternatives for now.
