S&P Global Platts began publishing five implied dry bulk freight rates for Capesize, Panamax and Supramax routes covering grains and coal from June 1, 2020. The routes include Vancouver to South Korea, Russia to India and Colombia to India and South Korea.
The rates are derived from time charter equivalent assessments and include marine fuel costs.
The new benchmarks give grain buyers and exporters clearer pricing for freight on specific origin-destination pairs, but they do not by themselves change the underlying freight price level.

Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
