Indonesia's Finance Ministry raised the export levy on crude palm oil and processed palm products by $5 per tonne to $55 for crude palm oil, effective June 1. The regulation also removed the minimum price threshold for levy collection.
A higher levy raises the cost of Indonesian palm oil exports and narrows its price advantage over Malaysian supply, which can shift export flows toward Malaysia.
After 513 past neutral policy events, Palm Oil moved a median 0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -1.6% to +1.4%), and -0.1% over 20.
