Belarusian Potash Company cut its potassium chloride price for China by 24.1% to $220 per tonne for 2020, down from $290 under the 2019 contract. Uralkali's director general called $220 the effective price bottom and said Uralkali is negotiating with China and will sell a stockpile of several hundred thousand tonnes delivered in late 2019.
The lower Chinese contract price sets a reference floor for global potash, and the unsold Russian stockpile could add near-term supply pressure. Buyers should expect potash prices to stay weak unless the bottom holds.
