IFFO reported that fishmeal and fish oil production in the first half of 2020 fell 7.5% and 7% respectively, year on year. June output was well above the 2011-2019 average, driven by higher landings in Peru, Northern Europe and India.
Lower fishmeal output tightens a limited protein supply for feed compounders, which supports fishmeal prices. Peru's landings remain the key swing factor.
