The US International Trade Commission began a material injury investigation into methionine imports from France, Spain and Japan, reported on August 4, 2020. The ITC will assess whether imports are causing or threatening harm to US producers.
The probe runs in parallel with the Commerce dumping investigation.
A finding of material injury would be required for antidumping duties to apply, so this step increases the likelihood of higher import costs. Domestic methionine prices could firm if duties follow.
