BPC has partially suspended work and production since August 17 because of social turmoil after the presidential election. BPC supplies about 20% of global potash, and China and India are its main buyers under contracts that serve as market benchmarks.
A prolonged BPC shutdown would reduce supply to major importers and support potash prices for feed and fertilizer buyers.
