US natural gas futures fell Monday as cooler-than-expected weather reduced gas-powered cooling demand toward the end of summer. October futures dropped as much as 6% intraday before settling down 1% at $2.63 per mmBtu.
The decline followed a two-month rally driven by heat and rising LNG feed demand.
Lower natural gas prices ease input costs for nitrogen fertilizer and grain drying, which modestly supports feed margins. The move is a routine weather-driven pullback rather than a supply shock.
