Six Aberdeenshire farms have set up Scotland's first gluten-free oat supply chain, using blockchain to trace oats from field through post-harvest storage and milling. The project was supported by a Rural Innovation Support Service group and developed with an Edinburgh technology firm.
The project targets a niche gluten-free segment and is too small to move commodity oat prices. It may give premium buyers a traceable local source.
