A Michigan State University study found that COVID-19 raised US retail and farm-gate table egg prices by about 141% and 182%. Breaking stock prices fell 67% as foodservice demand dropped, and specialty egg premiums fell by as much as 34%.
Shifts from foodservice to at-home consumption change how egg demand reaches producers, which affects layer flock management and related feed demand. The findings do not imply a new price move.
