China's customs data show lysine and lysine salts exports reached 56,700 tons in July 2020, up 31.5% year on year but down 7.84% month on month, at an average export price of US$948.27/ton. Lysine exports from January to July totaled 469,700 tons, up 42.77% year on year.
Methionine imports fell 45.35% year on year to 11,600 tons in July.
Strong Chinese lysine exports alongside weaker methionine imports point to shifting amino acid flows, with lysine prices held low by expanded domestic capacity. Lower methionine import demand in China is mildly bearish for methionine pricing in the feed amino acid market.
