Phillips 66 announced plans to convert its San Francisco refinery in Rodeo, California, to produce renewable fuels from used cooking oil, fats, greases and soybean oil. The plant would make over 800 million gallons a year of renewable fuels by the mid-2020s.
A plant of this scale would draw large volumes of soybean oil and waste fats from global sources, supporting vegetable oil prices and tightening feedstock supply for other users.
After 842 past bullish policy events, Soybean Oil moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (52% higher; middle half -1.6% to +2.1%), and -0.5% over 20.
