S&P Global Platts will launch a daily CFR China soybean crush margin calculation effective October 16, 2020. The margin compares Platts SOYBEX CFR China M1 shipment prices with domestic DCE soybean meal and oil futures, adjusted for yields, handling cost, import tax and VAT.
The new benchmark adds price transparency to China's crush economics, which drive how much soybean meal is produced and how aggressively China imports beans. It is a reference change rather than a supply or demand shock, so its direct price effect is limited.
