The European Commission issued Regulation (EU) 2020/1497, authorizing a type of L-methionine produced by Corynebacterium glutamicum and Escherichia coli strains as an animal feed additive for all species. The authorization runs until May 11, 2030 and takes effect 20 days after issue.
Regulatory approval gives producers of fermentation-based L-methionine access to the EU feed market, adding supply competition that is modestly bearish for methionine prices in Europe.
