Economist John Anderson of the University of Arkansas says the poultry industry is making modest gains but faces a slow recovery into 2021. The October WASDE projects a 2020 average broiler price of 70.8 cents per pound, down about 20% from the prior year.
Foodservice demand remains sluggish.
A projected 20% drop in broiler prices reduces integrator margins and limits feed buying, which is bearish for broiler-linked feed demand. The slow recovery keeps that pressure in place into 2021.
