Statistics Canada reported that September 2020 canola crush was 785,725 tonnes, about 2.4% above September 2019, with canola oil up 1.3% and meal up 3.7%. Soybean crush rose 17% to 139,438 tonnes, with soyoil up 11.9% and soymeal up 17.5% year on year.
Higher domestic crush means more meal and oil supply from Canadian processors, while stronger crush demand supports canola and soybean prices. The gains are modest for canola but notable for soy-based meal output.
