Palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD), a crude palm oil refining byproduct used in feed, biofuel and soap, has risen sharply since early August 2020. Prices reached $627.5 per tonne FOB Indonesia in early September, up 39% year on year, driven by supply tightness and Indian soap demand.
Higher PFAD prices raise the cost of this palm-derived feed ingredient and reflect broader tightness in palm oil supply, supporting feed cost inputs.
