The Korean won fell sharply on November 19 after Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki warned against its recent advance to a 29-month high. The won closed at 1,115.6 per dollar, its biggest one-day loss since June.
The won had been among the best-performing major currencies over the past two months.
Currency moves in the won affect the cost of Korean feed and grain imports priced in dollars, though the effect on US feed commodity prices is limited. A weaker won slightly eases Korean import costs in local terms.
