USDA-APHIS is considering non-regulated status for a ultra-low gossypol cottonseed variety (TAM66274) developed at Texas A&M and funded by Cotton Incorporated. The technology would lower gossypol, allowing cottonseed to be used more widely in animal feed.
If approved, more cottonseed could enter feed rations as a protein source, adding supply that could weigh on cottonseed meal prices over time.
