Danpo and HK Scan, Denmark's two largest chicken slaughterhouses, are cutting the broiler base price paid to growers by 20 øre from next week. The cut follows an avian influenza outbreak at a laying-hen farm near Randers, which led to culling and a three-month halt on exports of poultry and eggs to some non-European countries.
Lost export access and a smaller market for Danish chicken weaken demand for feed in Denmark, while growers face tighter margins. The effect on grain and meal prices is minor.
