US live cattle futures rose on December 1 as strong consumer beef demand and high wholesale prices supported the market. February live cattle added 0.300 cent to 113.175 cents per pound, and January feeder cattle gained 0.600 cent to 141.650 cents, helped by lower corn futures.
Firm boxed beef prices and lower corn costs improve feedlot margins, supporting feeder cattle values and demand for feed.
