USDA's October outlook puts 2020 US cotton production at 17.0 million bales, down 14% from last year. Whole cottonseed available for feed is estimated at 3.3 million tons, about 600,000 tons less than last season, mostly going to dairy rations.
A smaller whole cottonseed supply tightens a feed ingredient used in dairy rations, which may support demand for substitute fibre and protein feeds.
