Fauji Fertilizer Company plans a new DAP plant in Pakistan and has asked the government for 30 mmcfd of natural gas at a concessionary rate of $0.77 per mmbtu for 10 years. The company says the plant could produce about one million tons of DAP, against current domestic output of 800,000 tons and annual imports of 2.2 million tons in demand terms.
If built, the plant would cut Pakistan's DAP import needs and reduce its reliance on the import market, which eases demand-side pressure on global DAP prices. The project is still a proposal that depends on a gas commitment.
After 50 past bearish policy events, DAP moved a median +0.9% over 5 sessions (62% higher; middle half -0.1% to +1.6%), and +0.9% over 20.
