The US Commerce Department issued preliminary findings that methionine imports from France, Spain and Japan were sold at less than fair value. The case follows a September 2020 ITC decision that the US methionine industry was materially injured, and Novus International filed the petitions in July 2020.
The final phase of the investigation is expected to begin in March.
Preliminary anti-dumping duties would restrict cheap imports and raise US methionine prices, increasing feed costs for poultry and swine producers.
