The rupee fell 104 paise to settle at 73.47 against the dollar on February 26 as Indian stocks dropped more than 3.75% in a global bond-yield selloff. US 10-year yields rose to about 1.6%, which analysts linked to expected US inflation.
Rising US yields and a stronger dollar pull capital out of emerging markets and weaken the rupee, which raises the cost of dollar-priced imports for Indian feed buyers. The move also reflects broader risk-off conditions that can spill into commodity prices.
