Palm, soybean and sunflower oil prices rose sharply after an increase in crude oil prices. Malaysian palm oil exports for February 1-20 were reported up 10% to 28% from the prior period, and Brazil's soybean harvest was only 15% complete as of February 18, the slowest in ten years.
Higher crude prices lift biofuel-linked vegetable oil demand, while firmer palm exports and a slow Brazilian soybean harvest tighten supplies and support vegetable oil and soybean prices.
