U.S. grain sorghum planted acres have fallen from 10.24 million in 2001 to 5.8 million in 2020, with Texas around 1.8 million. Texas A&M's Calvin Trostle says sorghum pricing is up relative to December 2021 corn, putting Texas cash prices near $8 to $9 per cwt.
Sorghum prices strong relative to corn may draw more acres in 2021, which could tighten supply for feed users later, though planting risks remain.
