Egg prices on Poland's wholesale market jumped about 18% to 20% at the end of January as avian flu cut laying hen numbers. Egg prices are also rising in France and Germany, but remain weak in Spain.
Lost laying hens reduce egg supply, which supports egg prices in the EU. Feed demand from layers may dip, but the effect on feed prices is small.
