South Korea's state-funded Korea Rural Economic Institute forecasts egg prices could rise up to 68 percent in March-May 2021 as avian influenza cuts flock sizes. Daily egg output is projected to fall 17.1 percent on-year, with production expected to normalize in June and September if the bird disease subsides.
Lower layer numbers reduce egg supply and raise prices in South Korea, and tariff-free egg imports are being used to ease the shortage. The effect on feed demand is modest but supports poultry feed usage over the spring.
