The Canola Council of Canada launched a revitalized market access plan with four focus areas to prevent and resolve trade barriers. The announcement comes as China's restrictions on Canadian canola seed approach their second anniversary.
Seed exports to China fell from $2.8 billion in 2018 to $1.4 billion in 2020.
The plan is a policy response and does not change near-term canola supply or demand. Continued Chinese restrictions keep Canadian canola export flows constrained, which supports a wider discount on Canadian supplies.
