On April 19, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority's FEEDAP panel published a safety opinion on L-lysine monohydrochloride and L-lysine sulfate produced by Corynebacterium glutamicum CCTCC M 2015595 for all animal species. The panel found the additive safe for target species, consumers and the environment, but could not conclude on user safety due to missing data.
The opinion is a regulatory step that could support EU authorisation of lysine feed additives. It has little immediate effect on lysine prices.
