The EIA weekly retail diesel average fell 1.5 cents to $3.129 a gallon, the third consecutive decline, leaving it 6.5 cents below its $3.194 peak. The CME ULSD benchmark had fallen to as low as $1.7713 a gallon, well below the retail price.
The gap between retail and wholesale diesel is still within a normal range, so retail prices may keep easing modestly. Lower freight fuel costs slightly ease the cost of moving feed ingredients.
