Natural gas forward prices in the Lower 48 rose by double digits during the April 22-28 week, with Henry Hub prompt-month fixed prices up 19 cents. The gains followed a 20-cent rally in May futures, driven by strong LNG and Mexico pipeline exports and a 2.4 Bcf/d production drop from maintenance.
Higher US natural gas prices raise energy and drying costs for feed mills and increase fertiliser production costs, modestly lifting feed input costs.
