Chinese customs data for Q1 2021 show strong growth in amino acid exports. Lysine and its salts and esters reached 210,000 tons in Q1, up 5% year on year, while methionine exports in March rose about 159% year on year to 6,664 tons.
Stronger Chinese amino acid exports signal ample global supply of feed-grade lysine and methionine, which tends to cap prices for these synthetic feed additives used in swine and poultry rations.
