Global fishmeal and fish oil markets tightened in the first half of 2026 as Peru and Chile cut quotas and North Atlantic supply fell. Peruvian quotas totalled 3.5 million tonnes, about 30 percent lower year-on-year, and Chile cut its 2026 anchovy quota by 44 percent.
Super prime fishmeal FOB Peru reached USD 2,500 per tonne in May 2026, with feed-grade fish oil up 64 percent year-on-year.
Lower quota supply combined with strong Chinese and Norwegian demand keeps marine protein prices elevated, raising feed costs for aquaculture and high-protein livestock diets. Prices are expected to stay high through 2026 if El Niño risk develops.
