Chinese customs data show lysine, lysine salts and esters exports reached 86,600 tons in March 2021, up 13.4% quarter-on-quarter but down 6.12% year-on-year. The average export price was US$1.27/kg, up 45.7% year-on-year, and January-March exports totaled 210,000 tons, up 5.4%.
Reference prices for 98% lysine have recently eased slightly to US$1.5-1.7/kg.
Lysine is a key synthetic amino acid in feed formulation, so higher export prices raise feed formulation costs for buyers. The slight recent softening suggests some relief, though prices remain elevated versus last year.
