Sweden's largest-ever avian influenza outbreak has left shelves short of domestic eggs. About 20% of Swedish egg production has been temporarily lost, with roughly 1.5 million laying hens and 700,000 young hens culled.
The loss of replacement pullets will slow the rebuilding of Swedish layer flocks, so tight supply may persist into autumn. The effect on feed markets is limited.
